Oxygen Saturation Monitoring
We use advance oxygen saturation equipment to assess your levels at SHCC, a range of 94-99% is normal for healthy adults breathing standard room air. If you are not achieving critical blood oxygen saturation level s of 90% SpO2 your health could be impacted
Oxygen Saturation Information
A pulse oximeter is a medical device that indirectly monitors the oxygen saturation of a patient’s blood (as opposed to measuring oxygen saturation directly through a blood sample) and changes in blood volume in the skin, providing a photoplethysmogram.
A range of 94 – 99% is normal for a healthy adult, breathing room air which contains 21% oxygen. Anyone who is not achieving the critical blood oxygen saturation level of 90% (SpO2) or of 55 – 60mmhg (SaO2) may require additional oxygen.
