Drug & Alcohol Screening
Drug and Alcohol use in the workplace is obviously dangerous for the company and its employees.
Whilst it is not always obvious, simple testing can identify the habit and from there, the risk and necessary actions to take.
We only use the most effective and efficient equipment available on the market. We have a Chain of Custody protocol in place, that reassures the Client of 100% accuracy and legal assurances, for HR requirements.
Workplace Drug and Alcohol screening is becoming more commonplace and we can provide on-site or off-site employee screening, convenient to your hours of work, place of employment, building site, demolition site etc.
What Happens at our Clinic
All testing is carried out by fully qualified clinical staff
Firstly, the nurse will use a breathalyser (which is approved by the Home Office under the Road Traffic Act 1988, Transport & Works Act 1992 and Railways and Transport Safety Act 2003) to test for breath alcohol. If a level of breath alcohol is found above the permissible company limit (as defined in the company drug & alcohol policy and often equivalent to the drink driving limit of 35 micrograms of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath) then this will be reported to the company.
A urine test is used to test for drug use. We test for the following drugs but would not be limited to:
Tricyclic Antidepressants (TCA)
Any positive result is identified immediately and a sample is sent to our designated toxicology laboratory for confirmatory testing.
Where there is a positive drug result, confirmatory testing is essential. For example some prescription medicines could trigger a false positive result. The confirmatory test can identify if cannabis levels are due to direct smoking or passive smoking at a party. This test can be used in court if the employee appeals against any disciplinary measures.
Your appointment will either be with our Clinical Director, Registered Nurse, Phlebotomist or our Drug & Alcohol Technician.
